Handling of footnotes, headers, and footers

In the papers I have tested in Audemic so far, all of them have had some degree of difficulty correctly parsing footnotes and recurring page headers and footers (e.g. Journal title, date, publishing info). This text should be ignored in the transcripts, but is often included. Behavior is inconsistent document to document.

In particular with law-review style papers that have large numbers of footnotes on each page, it becomes impossible to listen to the transcipt because each page will have several minutes of reading out references and footnotes that interrupt the content.

Yes, it is November 2024 and I am still having issues with this, not with APA citation style but when there are Chicago style footnotes, the tiny number is read out loud as if it was the beginning of the next sentence. Hoping this will be solved soon!

We're updating our extraction process to not read footnotes and/or inline citations. Thank you for the feedback!

Hi Will!

So sorry to hear that! Thank you for letting us know about this issue and I’ll pass it along to the team and see if we can resolve it.

Best,
Haley
